Dear Cardinal Nation,
I’m so excited for this 2021 season! We are going to build on our successes from last year and have a blast! Our Cardinal experience at City Meet 2021 will be epic!! The sport of swimming has brought me so much joy and led to many friendships with incredible people. City meet 2021 will be my 20th Greensboro city meet as a swim parent; I have such fond memories of the pageantry, the racing, and the fun times! Two of my children were Golden Swimmers (twice each), yet I think one of my favorite memories was when my 6-year-old Jonathan got 16th at city meet in backstroke and was psyched that his ribbon was black!
Looking at our 2021 season, my goal is to lead the Cardinal to be the best team we can be! We will race, train, celebrate, and grow together as a team!
Currently, I am teaching fourth grade at Summerfield Elementary during the school year. In addition, I recently rejoined the coaching staff at SGSA and am a swim instructor at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. I teach “learn-to-swim” lessons for both adults and children, GAC Waves, and Adaptive Lessons for children with special needs.
I have 9 years of elementary teaching experience and over 21 years of experience coaching swimming in NC and TX. I am ASCA Level 3 certified and led swimmers to success at the NC Junior Olympics, Age Group Sectionals, NC Senior Champs, Senior Sectionals, and American Short Course Champs. I’ve enjoyed watching swimmers I coach continue to develop and compete at such colleges as Stanford, Texas, Clemson, UNC, Duke, NC State, UNCW, Florida State, George Washington, Johns Hopkins, Gardner-Webb, Davidson, East Carolina, University of South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Columbia, Campbell, Cornell, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Auburn, Queens, West Virginia, and Alabama.
Away from the pool, I cheer for my alma mater University of Texas and Duke University (where my 2 older sons graduated.) I love to be outside, either walking my French bulldog Myrtille or hanging out at our firepit. I still swim; you’ll see me swimming laps at the Cardinal!

I have always been a Cardinal. My family joined the Cardinal just before I was born and I have been enjoying pool time at the Cardinal every summer since. In 2009, I started swimming in the developmental program (chirps). I have been swimming on the team every summer since. My parents are Vic and Deanna Rouse and my two older sisters are Hannah and Rachel. Hannah and Rachel both swam at the Cardinal as well. Hannah, the oldest sister, swam many
years year-round and coached at GSA as well. This will be the Rouse Family’s 19th year of summer swimming and 18th City Meet .
While I enjoy Cardinal swimming, I truly love all sports. Growing up in the Northwest
area of Greensboro, I played baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and tennis. As a
student at Northwest Guilford High School, I will finish in the top 5 of my graduating
class while lettering in Soccer, Tennis, Cross Country, Track and Football. In addition to
my high school classes, I have also taken many dual-enrollment courses at GTCC. I will
continue my education at a yet to be determined college as I am currently weighing my
offers to play soccer at the collegiate level.
I am incredibly excited to be coaching with Coach Christina and the other Cardinal
Coaching staff as I swim competitively for the last summer of my career. I will also be
working for Derek at the tennis courts…so if you’re at the club, look for me! I will always
try to be a helping hand.
