Come see what the Cardinal Chirps is about!

The Cardinal Swim and Tennis Club is excited to introduce the Cardinal Chirps!  This is a non-competitive developmental swim program geared towards our youngest and inexperienced swimmers who are still building confidence and learning strokes yet may want to become part of the swim team as they improve.

Do you have a swimmer that is almost ready for swim team but needs a little more help to get across the pool on their own? If you answered yes, then Chirps is the group for you!!

Description

The Chirps is a group swim opportunity to get your child comfortable with the water, have some fun, build team spirit, and teach stroke development. Multiple cardinal swim team coaches will assist with this program to provide a low swimmer to coach ratio. The end goal for our Chirp swimmers is for each swimmer to be able to compete in a 25-meter freestyle and /or backstroke event by the final home swim meet or be ready to for next season.

Participation

To be eligible for the Chirps group, participants should be at least 4 years old, comfortable putting their face in the water, float unassisted, and be able to listen and follow directions. Coaches will be in the water with our Chirps team, helping them gain confidence and ensuring their safety. When our coaches feel a swimmer is ready, they will suggest that the swimmer try attending full team practices. If one of our Chirps progresses to a dual meet, they will be assigned a buddy from our older swimmers to spend time showing them the ropes and cheering for them when they swim for their first meet.

Chirps participants are official members of our swim team and will receive the team shirt and are encouraged to come to our team activities such as meets, swim for cancer events, and the end of season Awards Ceremony.

We are starting registration with 32 spots, as we get closer to the season and have commitments from our Coach helpers, we may be able to open more. If you would like to register for Chirps please visit our swim team page and complete the registration forms online or contact our parent rep coordinators (swimteam@cardinalswimandtennis.com) to sign up. Spaces will fill up very quickly!

Cost

The Chirps program is same pricing structure as the Cardinal Swim team. We give every family 2 developmental swim sessions to evaluate if the program is going to be a good fit. If not, you will not be charged or have funds returned. We will also offer separate one on one evaluation opportunities early in the season (see above) and offer private lessons.

Schedule

During some of the preseason swim Saturday morning practices at Greensboro College, and the first two weeks of swim practice at the Cardinal, optional Chirps evaluations will be available during swim team practices. Evaluations should last no longer than 15 minutes and swimmers should come prepared to get in the water. Please look for information to sign up or contact swimteam@cardinalswimandtennis.com to reserve a time.
